We all know that nature has a healing effect on us and that exercise is healthy for both the body and mind. Walk and Talk therapy is a mindful way of working trough your issues with your counsellor, without sitting in a room face to face. Instead we go for a walk, currently socially distanced, in the local countryside. This can be one of our pre-planned walks or one of your own choosing. We meet at Just Be Counselling in the heart of Llantwit Major or at a convenient place for your chosen walk.
Research * has shown that being outside is extremely beneficial to us all. As well as physical health benefits such as lowering blood pressure and our heart rate, we sleep better when we have spent time outside. This alone can make a big difference to people suffering with anxiety or who live stressful lives.
The research also shows that exposure to nature lowers levels of cortisol, which is a physiological sign of stress.
Only you can answer this. For some people being with their counsellor in a room feels more right and for some, telephone or online therapy is a better fit. But as long as you are in good health and like being outdoors, you may find this way of therapy helpful.
You can also mix and match. Not every session has to be outside.
Currently, due to Covid 19, this also represents a way for clients to have face to face counselling, as we are currently only able to offer telephone and video sessions.
We will email you our paperwork which you sign and email back to us.
At the time of the session, we meet and start our walk. Please wear sturdy footwear as in order to maintain confidentiality and not be overheard we will walk in the countryside.
